Expeditionary Art Exploration
Weave the Stories; Discover the Magic
Welcome to our blog!
Every Friday, Joel and I will be teaching a kindergarten art lesson. Throughout the semester, we will explore color, various materials, and artists in the world. The purpose of this course is to give students the tools to identify how artists use visual art to communicate, discuss various aspects of works of art, investigate and properly use materials, and recognize how artists connect to their communities. In addition to teaching the standards, we will create an environment where students are encouraged to play, explore, and make mistakes.
Students will be documenting, sketching, and journaling in their sketchbooks every week. Their sketchbooks are going to be their place to document ideas, feelings, and wonderings as well. This documentation will be done with both visual records and journaling. This way, students get practice with both art and literacy.
Every week we will update our blog with the new lesson plans and observations. We are extremely excited to start this journey with our kindergarten class!
